Your Birthday
Your motor vehicle tag expires
midnight of your birthday. The renewal period is the 30 day period prior
to and ending at midnight of your birth. You may renew beginning 90 days prior to your birthday.
(This includes passenger cars, recreational vehicles, small trailers,
trucks under 5000 pounds and motorcycles.) Late penalty applies beginning
the 11th day of the month following your birth-month. Parking permits
for the handicapped expire based on the expiration date of the drivers
license or state identification card of the person with
disabilities.
January
Receive 2% discount on payment of Real Estate
Property taxes and Tangible Personal Property taxes. Renew decals for
mobile homes that are not assessed as Real Property before
December 31.
February
Receive 1% discount on payment of Real Estate
Property taxes. Receive 1% discount on payment of Tangible Personal Property
taxes.
March
Full amount due on Real Estate Property taxes and Tangible Personal
Property taxes by March 31. Final (4th) property tax Installment Program
payment due by March 31. Taxpayers currently enrolled
in the Installment
Program do not need to reapply to continue the program.
April
All unpaid property taxes become delinquent April 1st. At this
time, a 3% interest charge is added to the gross amount. Within 45 days,
delinquent property taxes will be advertised in a local newspaper and the
cost of advertising will be added to the delinquent bill. All unpaid Tangible
Personal Property taxes become delinquent April 1st. At this time a $2.00
and a 1.5% per month interest charge is added to the gross amount. Within
45 days delinquent Tangible Personal Property taxes will be advertised
in a local newspaper and the cost of advertising will be added to the
delinquent bill. Applications for next year's property tax installment
payment plan due by April 30.
May
Tax warrant processing begins on delinquent tangible personal property
taxes May 1st. List of delinquent taxes advertised in local newspaper
one time. List of delinquent Real Estate Property taxes advertised once
per week for three consecutive weeks prior to tax certificate sale in
a local newspaper. Tax certificate sale for delinquent Real Estate Property
taxes begins on or before June 1st or 60th day after delinquency.
June
The installment plan requires that the first installment must be
made no later than June 30th to receive a discount. Payments accepted
after June 30th, but before July 31st, are not discounted,
and will include
a 5% penalty. Failure to make the first payment will automatically cancel
the participant from the plan, and the taxpayer will be required to pay
the taxes due in full by March 31st. Registration renewals of company-owned
motor vehicles (under 5,000 pounds) due by June 30th.
July
International Registration Plan (IRP) or apportioned autos (vehicles)
which are commercial truck-tractors and trucks over 26,000 lbs. that also
travel outside Florida must file for registration renewal.
September
Second property
tax Installment payment due by September 30th. Early duck season
opens.
October
Archery and mourning dove season opens.
November
Collection of Real Estate Property taxes and Tangible Personal
Property taxes begins. Receive a
4% discount on payment if made by November
30th. General gun, waterfowl and coot season, fall turkey, muzzle loading
and quail seasons open.
December
Receive a 3% discount
on payment of Real Estate Property taxes. Receive a 3% discount on
payment of Tangible Personal Property taxes. Third property tax
Installment Program payment due by December 31st. Registration and
renewal of trucks over 5000 pounds, truck-trailers, semi-trailers,
nine-passenger and over vehicles for hire due by December 31st.
