Initial Registration
If
the mobile home is purchased from a mobile
home dealer, the dealer is responsible for collecting the
initial fees, submitting the required paperwork to the Tax
Collector's Office and ensuring the initial registration and decal(s) are provided to the owner. If the mobile home is being financed, the fees and paperwork are usually passed onto the finance company for processing.
This allows the finance company the ability to
ensure their lien is properly recorded on the title.
Regardless of the entity, the paperwork must be submitted for processing within 30 days.
If the registration is not received within a reasonable time period, the purchaser should contact the mobile home dealer.
If the purchase was from another individual,
it is important to receive a properly endorsed, clear title and to determine that no unknown taxes are owed on the mobile home and /or land. The mobile home should be titled and registered immediately
.
(See above Mobile Home Registration Requirements)
The initial registration will be for a
regular mobile home decal. If you also own the land that the mobile home is affixed to, you must apply for a Real Property decal for future years. |
